    Registration - Lottery Process

    NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION

    Welcome to Jan Reimer School!

Thanks to all the families who pre-enrolled before the April 14, 2023, deadline to help our school get ready for next year!

We had more requests than available space in Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 3, Grade 6, Grade 8 and Grade 9 and new students will be chosen through the lottery process. If your child is in one of these grades, we will contact you with their enrolment status by April 24, 2023.

All pre-enrolment requests in Grades 2,4,5 and Grade 7 were able to be accepted based on available space.

LOTTERY PROCESS AT JAN REIMER SCHOOL

Edmonton Public Schools reviews enrolment and programs at all schools in our Division each fall to monitor growth and see where schools are on the Division’s Growth Control Model. After carefully reviewing our enrolment this fall, Edmonton Public Schools has determined our school is at capacity and is implementing a lottery process for new resident students enrolling at our school for the 2023–24 school year. This will not impact current students who attend our school.

The school will not accept new registrations from families in the attendance area if the student is not a resident of Edmonton Public Schools. A student is considered a resident of Edmonton Public Schools if they have at least one parent who lives in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic.

Resident students who aren’t selected through the lottery process can attend the overflow designated school, SATOO SCHOOL for Kindergarten to Grade 6 and KISÊWÂTISIWIN SCHOOL for Grades 7-9, a school with space in planned classes, or remain at their current school, if applicable. Currently we are full in Grades K, 1, 3, 6, 8 and 9 for the 2023/2024 school year.

SIBLINGS OF CURRENT STUDENTS ATTENDING OUR SCHOOL
New resident students from the attendance area with a sibling who is returning to the school next year will get priority, but are not guaranteed to attend.

If families choose to go to another Division school, they will need to call or email their preferred school to see if there is space.

Siblings will also be able to attend the overflow designated school, but if families choose to go to another school with space, siblings are not guaranteed to attend.

    REGISTRATION AFTER APRIL 14

New resident* students to the Division who register for the 2023–24 school year after pre-enrolment closes on April 14 can be added to the bottom of the callback list. Students can attend their overflow designated school, another school with space, or remain at their current school, if applicable.

*A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic.

In order to register at Jan Reimer school, we require a driver's license or house purchase contract as well as 2 of the following documentations to be considered for school placement.

      • utility bill
      • home/tenant insurance
      • credit card bill
      • property tax bill
      • car insurance

    TRANSPORTATION TO OVERFLOW DESIGNATED SCHOOLS

Yellow bus service to SATOO SCHOOL or KISÊWÂTISIWIN SCHOOL will be available for eligible students. Bus fees will apply.

Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) is the preferred transportation method for junior high and high school students; however, if ETS does not meet Division standards, eligible students attending their overflow designated school may be able to apply for yellow bus service. Bus fees will apply.

Students who require yellow bus service must apply before June 1, 2023. Information for new and current riders and application forms can be found on the Applying for Yellow Bus Service page on epsb.ca.
